AAWSAP Records and DIRDs

Forty-four records of the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP), a Defense Intelligence Agency program that war.gov describes as active from 2008 to 2012, were released in PURSUE Release 06 (September 2026). They fall into two groups. The first is the program's administrative file: a July 2008 statement of objectives that frames AAWSAP as a contractor-supported effort to assess far-term foreign aerospace threats out to the year 2050 across 12 technical study areas, a September 2008 solicitation and original order, and five contract modifications from 2009 and 2010. The second is the program's Defense Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRDs): technical papers on subjects from metallic glasses and biomaterials to warp drives, traversable wormholes and negative-mass propulsion. War.gov describes DIRDs as reference and synthesis products rather than original research, notes that not every paper directly concerns aerospace systems or threat assessment, and cautions that its summaries should not be read as implying current validation of the concepts discussed. Its descriptions say 38 DIRDs were produced between 2009 and 2011; PURSUE has released 37. None of these records reports a sighting, so each file's Anomalousness Index is the rubric's default for a document that describes no event, not a finding. All are flagged as redacted, and all are public domain U.S. Government works under 17 U.S.C. § 105.
